Brian's Bowling Tips

Spare Basics :

The only way to become a above average bowler is to consistantly convert your spares. There is no worse feeling than to make 5 or 6 strikes in a game only to score 140 because you could not make a single pin spare.

Things to remember :

Some nights you can't buy a strike so converting spares can be the difference between a mediocre night or a total disaster.

You can bowl a 190 game without ever striking.

Open frames defeat any strikes thrown.

Go for the most or easiest pin when dealing with splits.

Try to adjust for spares with your feet using your strike line when possible.

Try not to hook the ball for single pin spares no power is required to knock down 1 pin.

Have good ball speed 15 - 16 mph is adiquate to avoid splitting This equates to aproximatly a 3 count after the ball has left your hand eg: 1 Misisippi, 2 Misisippi, 3 Misisippi.

Move in the direction of the miss. eg: your ball hits brooklyn (on a well executed shot). Then move left(for a right hander) 3 boards(Not Dots) with your feet keeping the same target on the lane.

Stand to the left for spares on the right, right for spares on the left.

Use Practice time for spares everybody knows how to strike.
