Brian's Bowling Tips

Meaninful Practice :

Practicing with a plan can add countless pins to your average and improve your game tremendously. But people (myself included ) often let their ego wreck their good intentions. A good example : You can't make a 10 pin spare to save your life so you sware to yourself that your gonna practice making that shot until you can do it with your eyes closed. So the next day you go to the lanes and get your lanes rented for three games and you roll a 650 series. (Pretty good huh?) Answer : NO Because you rolled it without any pressure, lag time between shots and under a non-league lane condition. Instead of trying to feed the ego this person should not have thrown at any thing but the 10 pin (even on the second shot, shoot at the empty spot where the 10 normally is)Now the person in the above example has not learned anything except that he can throw a great series when it does not matter. PLEASE PRACTICE WITH A PLAN

Use practice to work on weak spots in your game (everybody has them, Pros included).

If you are unsure of your weak spots, ask a team member who has a solid game and or experiance.

Use the proper ball for the condition eg : No reactives on a bone dry condition no blue dots on a flood.

When you feel yourself get tired, stop or you may develop bad habits in your form and or release.

Dont forget to work on concentration and set up routine.

Go when the lanes are moderatly busy. A morgue will not be of any use in practicing concentration skills and a block party may cause you to feed your ego eg : These people will think I suck if I keep getting only 1 pin.

Practice thinking about your next shot when you are not on the lane. Don't think when the ball is in your hand.
